Dear reader,

First off, I want to apologize for being inconsistent in my writing. There is no excuse good enough to tell you that I am a busy person, but I am. I work as an Elementary Paraprofessional during the regular workweek, coach the Long and Triple Jump at one of the local high schools, and just getting started on my blogging. In addition, I am just beginning my career as an audiobook narrator on ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange). Moreover, I have to maintain my mental health as well as my home and make sure my wife gets time to herself as well. There aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything that I want, but I’m trying. All that I can hope for is that you appreciate my work as well as that you appreciate everyone else that is working just as hard as I am (if not much harder than I). Thank you for your attention to this matter.

With that being said, let us turn our attention to the NFL. Today’s article is about a couple stories from the hardcover book Tales from the Minnesota Vikings Sideline: A Collection of the Greatest Vikings Stories Ever Told, written by Bill Williamson and Eric Thompson. In chapter three titled The Coaches, the authors discuss the seasons in which Denny Green was in charge. Prior to him becoming the head coach for the Vikings, he was the head coach at Stanford University. In the section titled Great College Training, Green remarked how he really enjoyed having Chris Walsh as a player. “I love Chris Walsh. He got great college coaching,” If you didn’t know, Chris Walsh played for the Vikings as a Wide Receiver and attended Stanford when Green was the head coach. When the Vikings played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green commented on how great a player John Lynch was. “John Lynch is a great player. It’s because of his great college training,” he deadpanned.

During the 1990’s Green was the winningest coach in Vikings franchise history. His teams were 97–62 in ten seasons. He was the head coach who helped orchestrate the best single season record in franchise history; 15–1. It was just unfortunate that the Vikings could not go on to the Super Bowl because of an overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons. If I had a choice between the 1998 Vikings and the 2009 Vikings, I would choose the 1998 Vikings as my favorite team to watch.

Ross Blilie is an avid NFL fan of the Minnesota Vikings since the 1990’s. He loves to talk about the NFL and the Vikings every chance he gets. His hobbies also include bowling with his wife and friends, narrating audiobooks, fishing, and even sitting by a campfire with family at Lake Blackduck in Minnesota.
