Kirk Cousins Will Be Back In Minnesota
With Cousins out, the Vikings have to make a decision, but I think he will be re-signed

When the topic of professional sports in the land of ten thousand lakes comes up in a conversation at work, it's usually about how optimistic we are or are not about the Vikings or the Timberwolves or the Twins. With me being an avid fan of the Vikings, I always tell people that the Vikings will do whatever it takes to win in the regular season, but when it comes to the playoffs or a championship game where everything is on the line, it seems like the franchise has a special curse placed on them to not win the big one. Why? I have absolutely no clue. But I think its weird. There's no other professional franchise out there that I can think of that has this distinct problem in professional sports. The only professional sports team in Minnesota other than the Twins in the late eighties and early nineties to win a championship is the Lynx; the WNBA team. Other teams have come close, but I just think that for the last three decades, no other professional sports team in Minnesota has won a championship. Why? That is always my go-to question. Anyone who knows me well enough will say that I ask why, too often. I hope someone can shed some light on that question.
But I didn't come here to write about how sad the professional teams are in the land of ten thousand lakes. I came here to express my opinion on Kirk Cousins, his injury, and that I think that the Vikings General Manager will end up re-signing him to a new deal to stay as the Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback.
Earlier today, I read an article on facebook from the Vikings Territory page discussing a soft timeline that was set for Cousins to come back to the team. According to media journalist Dustin Baker, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the Vikings GM, mentioned to the media recently that Cousins should be healed from his torn Achilles around May of 2024. That's good news! But wait! There's more! Cousins is expected to become a free agent after this season. So that means KAM has to decide soon what he's going to do about Cousins and his salary. Hopefully it will get worked out. But my gut feeling right now is that with how well Cousins has performed up until his injury, I think there's a pretty good chance that he will redo his contract and re-sign him. I think its in the best interest of the team to re-sign him because he means so much to the fans as well as, and most importantly, to the locker room. They have a good, tight, group of players, and a coach who is willing to lay it all on the line as much as the players. I think that is special. I think this is where the franchise has to make a change. When things are going well, you can't just let your best players walk to get more money elsewhere. As a GM, you should figure out a way to keep your best players. I understand its sometimes not up to the players or the GM, and the players agents try to make a deal what's best for their client, but at the same time, someone has to realize that keeping a tight locker room is a priority. All fans in Minnesota want to see them win a championship. I think it starts right here. Do something different than before.
Don't get rid of your better players simply because you can't afford them. Figure out a way to keep them.
