To My Fellow Vikings Fans:
It's not time to panic…yet
By: Ross Blilie
Hey guys/gals, as huge a fan of the Minnesota Vikings as I am, I don't think it's time to worry about the playoffs. Remember, it's the Vikings. We know their team history inside and out. We always want them to win, but it doesn't always happen the way we want.
In my opinion, I don't think that what happened last season was a fluke. However, most people would say that it was a fluke because it was O'Connell's first season. The thing is, I look at HOW they won.
First, they won eleven games by one score. The season before, they won, like, three games by one score or less. So, I take the increase from three to eleven a huge success. Second, Kirk Cousins had one of the best, if not thee best season of his entire career last season. He engineered the biggest comeback victory in league history. He also took the most hits out of all thirty-two teams in the league and still managed to win thirteen games for his club. Now, you might say that the only reason why Kirk could only do the things that he did last season was because he had Justin Jefferson, who was unstoppable. That may be true, but who actually gave Jefferson those opportunities to shine the way he did? That's right. Kirk Cousins.
Third, Kevin O'Connell as the Head Coach created a winning culture. I think that had the Wilf's not hired KOC, I don't think the club would have seen the same success. There is a connection between him and Kirk that is genuine and it shows on the field.
Now that the 2023-24 season has started, and it seems like things are falling apart, we just have to realize that it's early in the season. Things can turn around for the better quickly. All it takes is a couple wins to get back to even and it's a whole new season.
So…it's not time to panic.
